You must know that we belong to a human family. Despite all our differences we belong to each other in the true macro sense. In the micro sense you may belong only to your family as the attachment has originated in blood. But man is a social animal. He lives both within and outside his family. He needs to work to survive and bring up his family. He has to belong to an organization. His family lives within a society so he belongs to his society as well. All this adds up to his belonging to his nation, to this world and to this universe which is what God has intended it to be.
Today unfortunately there is a narcissistic change in man’s approach. He does not even acknowledge the help rendered by his good old friend. He seems to have forgotten a sense of belongingness. Why is this radical change so pronounced today?
Answer to this question is complex indeed as there are so many socio-economic factors which contribute to it. The sense of belongingness that one should see today as we saw it in the past has really worn thin thanks to the decreasing importance being given to our age-old cultural values. Moral values have been corrupted. Even our obedience and loyalty to our Motherland seems suspect. Where are we heading then?
We abuse friends or nation or society because we see it from a narrow angleof self-interest. Only when we genuinely develop the feeling of belongingness could our level of affection change.
None can exist without sense of belongingness. Tree is on a hill because ofthe hill; clouds in the sky because of the sky and sun shining over all of us making our lives livable on this planet earth. Matter itself is part of belongingness that pervades the cosmos. Birds return to nest in the evening drawn by the sense of belonging because its family rests in the nest. Words make the speeches and no speech is possible without words. Clothes are made for human body and human body without clothes will be put to shame.
Whether you are rich or poor; black or white; weak or strong; brainiest or brawniest;Christian or Muslim or Hindu; men or woman all this categorization has no meaning or value unless they are glued by the sense of belongingness. The real essence of living a life rich and rewarding is only found in belongingness. Belongingness offers satisfaction to all of us. We all stand with honour and pride because we know we belong to each other.
In the rat race of survival selfishness has crept into our soul. We need to clean up your sense of belongingness. This will give us immense pleasure.
Only when realization dawns that happiness and success is associated with nature or family or society or friends that the true sense of belongingness is developed. Never forget the contribution of people who belong to your life. There indirect or direct contribution was responsible in your life where you now stand with pride and honour. They have never uttered a word pointing out their contributions but one should make note of it and put it on record all the same. This gives immense pleasure in return.
Belongingness brings pride and glory back to you to your career and life. You realise the true power of association and willingness in love to stand with each other without selfishness.
