PostHeaderIcon Pressure at Work Place

Leadership Training Ahmedabad - Dr. Shailesh Thaker

Leadership Training Ahmedabad - Dr. Shailesh Thaker

One of the managers of Manufacturing Industry asked a question, in the recent workshop at FCCP.

Sir, what we should do when day by day pressure at work place is increasing? Can we have pressure less work place?

I answered:

Dear learner, Pressure is going to increase; even you have to handle multiple job profile. Work place with everyday pressure is dangerous. You can have pressure of deadline twice or thrice in week but if an organization have every day pressure and everyday crisis than something is missing in the organization like team management, man planning, Time planning and systematic approach………

I repeat, everyday pressure can not create creative work place but twice a week pressure creates best output.

Even I had come across media industry, Creative industry ….they all have deadlines and they all perform…

They all are in creativity and most of them have deadline pressure.

Now you think about the creativity and pressure. How it matches!

Bu it is there.

Let me quote you an example of our life. Suppose you have flight at 5:00 p.m. in a day. You have to close a day, at least at 2:30 p.m., because of other priority and procedures (like going home, Good-bye to wife, Baggage transfer, Reaching before two hours at airport and if you are unplanned many more….). On that day, how you are jumping from one priority to another priority. Why? Because you are aware of deadline. You have no time after 2:30 p.m. That’s why you are at your best. So, pressure is creating in time performance and that’s why it is require at work place but not every day.

I strongly recommend to the managers to equip themselves with handling pressure and multi skills. These 2 great qualities will shape your career.

PostHeaderIcon CHANGE IS TEMPORARY OR PERMANANT.

Yesterday, I was interviewed by daily “DNA- BHASKAR”.

News reporter asked me: Sir, How many lives you have changed?

I said: None.

Reporter asked: What?

You have said that you had trained millions of people and other side you are informing us that you have changed NO LIFE.

I said: YES.

This is really contradictory. I am not able to understand, reporter said.

Change in lives is made by the people themselves. No one else and nothing else can do it. I am coaching them but they are responsible. I create an environment and after my influence people take decisions to change themselves.

I had observed that people Listen, Understand, Analyze, and Rethink, get Motivated and plan to change. Even in some cases they made temporary changes. But what about ever lasting change?

I suggest below three points formula.

A) I MUST CHANGE MY SELF WITH PERMANANT EFFECTS.

B) I BELIEVE I CAN CHANGE IT.

C) I HAVE POWER WITHIN TO CHANGE MYSELF. (No external motivation required).

I am responsible for my change and I must follow my decisions by within.

Reporter was now agreeing. He also appreciates the core beliefs for change. He silently recorded the hidden truth of training and development.

PostHeaderIcon Life is 10% Reaction & 90% Action.

Gautam Buddha was giving his courses to his disciples in a small town. While, he was talking, an angry man rushed to him and started abusing him. He was blasting on Buddha. Buddha continues to give his discourses without being affected by his abuses publicly.

The next day, same time, same place, Buddha was talking to his disciples while the same man came in and Placed wraths of flowers against the feet of Buddha. Buddha was continued with his discourses.

At the end of the day, one of the disciple agitated said to Buddha that, “You should have got angry on the man when he came with the flower.”

Buddha replied: Today he was a different man, not the same man, his personality is changed today. Apart from it, he does what he can. He abuses me. He flower me. He had done it, not me. How I came in to picture. He can not govern me. I am governed by my senses. I had done what I should.”

I find in my life most of the time, we are governed by people. People drive us. In fact, we should drive our selves. Most of the people react to act.

Life is 10% reaction 90% action.

PostHeaderIcon Serve and Earn

I was flying from Delhi to Lahore, for my international management training programme in Citara chemicals, Pakistan.

Service level I found so poor. I had not found that warmness. Which is not costing AIR INSUSTRY. Smiling face, warm welcome, care and share attitude and showing concern for the customer are the required attitude for the service industry. (I was not able to experience it during that flying)

I believe it was a fly of maximum 45 minutes. In those 45 minutes they have to treat me and make me delighted so I can be place in their permanent customer list. They had missed that opportunity.

I ask for only vegetarian snacks.

She served me sandwich.

I had tasted sandwich. I found some odd taste. I called her and asked is it a veg sandwich..?

she said YES.

I said, it is which sandwic.?

Chicken sandwich (In her eyes it was vegetarian. Even in most of the part of the world fish, chicken and eggs are considered as vegetarian food.)

She was answerless & silent. She forward her hand to pick up plate with some what discomfort feelings. (I was able to make out).

Can you serve me now veg. sandwich?

She said NO.

I had discussion about veg and non-veg food in the training session in a day.

Most of the people strongly believing that Eggs, Fish and Chicken are veg. food. In most of the part of the world it is  consider as a veg. food. (I learnt, One should know, what shall be a detail content of the food before order the food)

My values for food are very strong. I am a pure vegetarian.

Seating in my seat, for the remaining time, without any food, silent. I was feeling dull .

Organizations who are serving in service industry they have to be very much punctual and warm enough to ensure  customer delight.

Flying through at least 15 different air industry, I have to recollect warm  and over whelming response. SAD BUT TRUE.
