LEADERSHIP IS A MATTER OF SPIRIT.
“Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. “Asserted by William Shakespear
Leader removes all evils which deviate organization from its mission accomplishment programme. Many a time situation or condition or cause drives the organization towards another programme. Leader should stop all those factors and control the situation to accomplish pre fixed programme.
One of the purposes of the leadership is to achieve the purpose of the organization without disturbing environment of the organization. If atmosphere is disturb than leader control the situation and drive out evils to achieve desire goals.
In most of the cases, situation seems out of control and values of the organization are on the test. Situation is really boiling. Leader slowly removes unhealthy practices and establishes principles.
Mentor strict to the principles and slowly without losing his own temperament brings down the organization to his mission accomplishment programme. Such leadership is a most challenging task but real mentor with high energy and blessings of infinite intelligence perform and establish the victory of ever lasting truth.
Real leader is therefore, responsible by the virtue of his position and principles.
I salute to such leaders for demonstrating leadership in true spirit. By the way, leadership is a matter of spirit, not the management.
LEADER TRIUMPTH EQUALITY
Equality is a number one quality of the leader. Leaders see oneself in his all team member and see all team members in one self. Equality can be established easily by system driven organization. System is at the supremacy level.
Leader commits all failures on his name and triumph success for the team. Sharing credit of the success is an unconscious attitude of a real leader.
Harmony in the team can be established by equality (no partiality) Remember, most important rule of managing team is equality. I mean leadership is performance base, talent base, result base. It is never caste base, creed base, religion base or territory base. All team mates get the treatment equally well.
“Equality is the result of the human organization. We all are not born equal.” Asserted by Hannah Arendt (1906-1975).
All human are different by birth but leader can create a team with the equality. Equality is only possible by system and performance.
LEADERS CREATES DOUBT FREE ORGANISATION.
Doubts are ridiculous and make the leader most uncomfortable. Doubts are the energy wasters and cut the productivity of a leader. Leader starts living in confusing state of mind. Confuse state of mind affects on his relationship and productivity.
Doubt is not the pleasant condition in relationship in the organization and it damages productivity.
Clean and clear relationship energies organization. Leader comes out form confuse sate of mind to clear state of mind. He is out of” not to do “and moving forward to “what to do”.
DOUBT CREATES UNCERTAINTY IN THE ORGANIZATION.
In Bhagwad Geeta, IV, 42 direct leaders in such situation.
“TASMAD AGNAANA SAMBHOOTAM HRISTHAM GNAANAASINNNTMANAH CHITTVAINAM SAMSHAYAM YOGAM ATISHTHOTTISHTHA BHARATA.”
Clarity and understanding between team players always enhance relationship and productivity at the work place.
Mentoring leadership helps executives to remove doubts and make them able to walk on the path of accomplishments. Energizing team players by clarity is a most essential quality of a mentor.
Real mentor helps and direct team players in such situations and show them path of accomplishment by his wisdom. Ask the team player to stand tall
Truth is the weapon to remove doubt in the organization. Clarity and transparency strengthen the bondage of relationship.
LEADERS CREATES LEADERS AT ALL LEVELS.
“True leadership must be experienced, which influence people.”
A leader in an organization has to possess a number of qualities for effective results on continual basis. But one of the most important attributes of a leader is his ability to empower his employees unselfishly, unpossessively to exercise their skills on the job, make mistakes and learn from them for future improvements in their work.
A good leader, by definition, is not one who has not made any leader in life. He is a person who has invariably made leader and shape them to meet new challenges in the organization.
If one applies this concept in an organizational context, any leader, howsoever great leader he may be, simply cannot bring effectiveness at all levels across the organization without adopting the principle of delegation of responsibilities with authority to his employees. To achieve that, he has to identify right kind of persons within the organization and consciously decide to groom them as leaders.
To serve this purpose, he has to entrust such employees with responsibilities which, in normal course the leader himself would have shouldered. Along with the responsibilities, he also has to give expressed authority to experiment his ideas in his functional area, let him make mistakes, counsel him to avoid such mistakes in future and leave the matter at that. This process may look very irksome and time consuming to implement. Nevertheless, any organization which believes in long term ‘succession planning’ simply cannot do without undergoing this process.
Another facet of this situation, which is equally essential, is the ‘job satisfaction’ of every employee at the end of the day. For an organization to prosper, every employee needs to feel happy at the end of the day having accomplished something substantial during the given time. Irrespective of the quantum of remuneration he receives, he will go home feeling incomplete at the core of his heart without the feeling of his work well done. This surely is not a healthy sign for future of any organization.
The top rung of leaders in any organization must have the attitude of imparting their skills and knowledge to the persons working under their wings. They should also be given enough opportunities for their professional growth and also encourage them to make mistakes in the process. This exercise if done with right kind of persons over a period of time, shall definitely give the organization exceptional leaders who could enable the organization to achieve greater heights with the young crop of employees with great leadership qualities.
Needless to add, this should also give the senior leader the satisfaction of having created a no. of leaders in the organization who would continue his legacy of effective and result-oriented management of the organization.
And no amount of financial compensation can beat this great feeling at the end of one’s career in an organization!!!
LEADERHIP: IF NOT NOW ….THEN…WHEN……????
Time is the greatest resource available to mankind .Come to think of it, when our planet earth was formed millions of years ago and thereafter for many centuries, there was no concept of time. The reason probably was that there was no need for measuring the activities performed by the creatures then in terms of the results.. The sole motive of the living creatures was just that-Living. And to do any other activity connected to survival.
Who invented the concept of time to mankind is anybody’s guess. But in today’s world, time is a critical component of our existence. Every single day spent in our life translates into some activity which should enrich our existence on earth.
But does it happen?
We have to ask following “how profitably we utilize time or in today’s management parlance, is our Time Management effective?
In this context, the practice of ‘Procrastination’ needs to be examined critically. Since there is always a tomorrow in our life for performing any task, we are inclined to postpone anything which we think is ‘difficult’ and ‘time consuming’ in our opinion. We therefore, create a need to postpone it for some other day when situation will be more ‘conducive’ to attend to it.
For any result-oriented person, this tendency can prove to be disastrous. Many an important function may be postponed for the next day and then the day after and so on. It can also land the organization the leader is working for, into great trouble. Implementing an important decision gets delayed resulting in cost escalation which any organization can ill afford in today’s competitive world where a penny saved is penny earned. Such tendency of procrastination can also lead to loss of credibility in the market which in turn can result into losing the business to our more alert competitors.
In the light of the above, every corporate leader must do a regular reality check if he is the ’victim’ of this most common but greatly dangerous tendency.
The simple truth is that TODAY is the only reality and tomorrow is in the realm of a possibility whether it is one’s personal life or a Business Corporate life. The consequences are the same for both possibly with some difference in the gravity thereof.
Every single day when confronted with a so called ‘difficult’ issue, he must ask himself the question:
“IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN?”
The approach can save many sleepless nights for him and his organization!!
