Wisdom is the application of knowledge to attain a positive goal by receiving instruction in governing oneself.

Researchers in the field of positive psychology have defined wisdom as the coordination of “knowledge &  experience” and “its deliberate use to improve well being”. With this definition, wisdom can supposedly be measured using the following criteria

  1. A wise person has self- knowledge
  2. A wise person seems sincere ( Sincerity is the virtue one who speak & acts truly about his or her own feelings, thoughts & desires.) & direct with others
  3. Others ask wise people for advice
  4. A wise person’s actions are consistent with his/her ethical beliefs.

In Taoism, Wisdom is construed as adherence to the three treasures : Charity, Simplicity & Humility

Knowing others is intelligence;

Knowing yourself is true wisdom.

Mastering others is strength;

Mastering yourself is true power.

Wisdom in Hinduism is considered a state of mind & soul where a person achieves liberation or salvation.
