ARE WE ON OUR MISSION?
August 10, 2009
Can you recall DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM’s first mission: “Prithvi” missile to make India independent in the area of self-defense? Can you recall seeing the first Apollo moon landing?
Both are magnificent accomplishments and the achievement is unparallel.
We all need a mission in our lives then only we can find ourselves engaged in totality. When our 100 percent starts coming out, we feel that we are unleashing our potentiality. To achieve our 100 percent, we first need focus, and then the dream, the vision, the strategy, and the action plan, all together unfolded spontaneously.
You cannot predict what will be the fruit of your mission. Achievement of mission is also unexpected in any hour of the day. Nevertheless, our perseverance helps us to reach our mission.
Through the mission, “Prithvi” missile, we came to know about our strength and competency. From landing on the moon, we came to know how the earth looks from the moon.
When the former Prime Minister of India late Mrs. Indira Gandhi asked space shuttle astronaut Rakesh Sharma, “How does India look from the space?” and the answer was “Saara jaha se aacha Hindustan hamara….”
We all are learners; we learn that envisioning the big picture of the life helps us in developing the plan, the team, the strategy and the goals and much more….
Anthony Robbins defines mission as “A sense of purpose that lures you in to your future. It enlightens your principles, your energy, your values and your goals.”
When you start living with your mission, you start living with joy, satisfaction, pleasure and fun. Trust me you will forget most of your daily routines also once you start living with your vision and mission. Your eyes will be on the mission only.
Michelangelo said, “They do it day after day, and they thoroughly enjoy it, you can too.”
Why people lack mission?
People have job….work….or task….but few have mission. Going to school for a student, is what? Simply he is attending or anything else. People go to work place but they work. What happens at the end of the day? And, do you think life is all about the end of the day?
Why people do not love what they do and do what they love?
Why people have to be driven...? Why we have to give them directions…? Why we have to motivate them...? I would like to go further in detail…Why we need motivators. Why we all are not inner driven? Why we all are missing mission?
When our mission is pulled with passion, our journey becomes very excited. Life becomes full of joy and pleasure. Just imagine about Nelson Mandela who was behind the bars for 27 years and out of those years, 12 years were spend in total solitary. But, he had pleasure, joy and feeling of accomplishment and success.
Can I get up right now… and write my mission statement. Stephen Covey admires the most powerful mission statement of M. K. Gandhi very well.
Most of us have job….most of us have task…most of us have time passing activities. I think it is an injustice to our potentiality, to our spirit and to our existence. Should I have a purpose? Should I have a mission? Should I have a quest…? Leaders are always on quest. Can I enroll myself today in that quest? It discovers ourselves truly and allows us to meet our true potentials. Now we can move forward in the world profoundly and feel pride for the globe and people around us. Most important aspect in our life is “We feel better for ourselves.”
