Leadership: it’s all about speed

The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be —Marcel Pagnol

Man is becoming desperate as speed is catching up with his subconscious on how to run a business. His haste to stay put is matched with rapid changes in technology faced as he is with cut-throat competition and globalization threatening to unsettle his apple cart. This puts a damper on half-life of any business process.

CEO Ken Rees wrote to me that, “in an environment that’s changing as quickly as ours, there are so many things to be worried about. The daily huddles and daily executive team review of the dashboards help us make sure we are raising and resolving any issues quickly while giving me comfort that everything is going smoothly and that I don’t need to intervene. There are a host of other things that we do with the goal of breaking down hierarchy and improving communication (both up and down) to start to get people used to constant change as a standard practice rather than an upsetting occurrence.”

ING bank of Nether land, the $ 20 billion financial provider, enables organization with quick, small changes to systems.

The real leadership could be seen in you if you go with high speed and everything is under your control. In skating on thin ice, safety is in speed.

You need a car with one gear only, “go”. Your speed to lead organization, family, friends and society has substantial value in life. Your speed could be the speed of whole team as leader. You cannot lead with slow and steady pace to win the race.
This is to be de-learned now.

The background behind success is fusing your speed.

To me, speed is about the way of life. Speed of leader gives direction to team in an organization. Your ability to take decisions, accept changes, applying new technology , communication practices in day to day life all play vital role in day to day leadership. Speed is free from ageing, gender, caste and colour mechanics. What is speed for adjustment with other one, what is your speed for forgiveness and what is your speed for alteration of plan and strategy?

Speed is purely connected with way of life. I would like to suggest to you that speed can add vibration in life. Do you find that you need to change your excellence level? Speed could be one of the tools in the compass of leader. I strongly recommend that you must gain again the benefits of running with speed on the track of life.
Howard Hughes was a visionary who was obsessed with speed and flying like a god… I loved his idea of what film making was.

I force you to see your speed level. Check with other leaders also and review, re-plan and re-organize your way to move forward. Remember, in the race of life, the biggest hurdle could be your own self.

Companies today must be able to make process changes in days or weeks, not months or years. Over the last decade the opportunities for improving work have multiplied.

We should celebrate the achievements of the process improvement approaches that emerged in the 1990s, what I call “Process Strategy”. Now we need to look to the new frontiers of work in the 2020s.
